EDITORS COMMENTS
In this iconic photograph, four of the greatest world boxing champions come together, each having left an indelible mark on the sport. From left to right, we have Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Joe Louis, and James J. Braddock. Jack Dempsey, the "Manassa Mauler," ruled the heavyweight division from 1919 to 1926. Known for his powerful left hook, Dempsey was the first boxer to bring excitement and showmanship to the ring, making him a fan favorite. Gene Tunney, the "Champion of the World," held the heavyweight title twice, from 1926 to 1928 and from 1928 to 1930. Tunney's scientific approach to boxing, combined with his intelligence and tactical skills, earned him the respect of fans and peers alike. Joe Louis, the "Brown Bomber," took the heavyweight crown from Braddock in 1937 and held it until 1949. Louis was a dominant force in the ring, known for his devastating punching power and unyielding determination. James J. Braddock, the "Cinderella Man," defied the odds to become the heavyweight champion in 1935. Braddock's inspiring story of perseverance in the face of adversity captured the hearts of the public and cemented his place in boxing history. This photograph captures a moment in time when four of the greatest boxing champions came together, each having left an indelible mark on the sport. Their legacies continue to inspire and captivate fans around the world.
