This stunning 18th century print captures the elegance and opulence of the French Court during the early part of the century. On the left, the female figure wears a French court dress from 1702, belonging to Francoise Marie de Bourbon, Duchess of Orleans. The dress, designed by the renowned courtier Jeanne Lanvin, is adorned with intricate gold and silver braid, a coronet of ermine, and a stomacher that accentuates the waist. The voluminous skirt is supported by a petticoat, and the sleeves are long and bell-shaped. On the right, the male figure is dressed in the fashion of 1724, during the reign of Louis XV. The costume, featuring a doublet and breeches, is embellished with gold lace and braiding. The doublet is worn with a waistcoat and a cravat, while the breeches are held up by a sash. The male figure also wears a three-cornered hat, a sign of the period's fashion. The influence of the famous courtier Jeanne Lanvin is evident in both costumes, as she was a leading figure in the French Court during this period.
