VISUAL DESCRIPTION
The image is a black and white advertisement or promotional flyer from the British Aircraft Disposal Company (ADC), celebrating "ANOTHER 'PUMA' SUCCESS. " The document is dated November 20, 1924, and it highlights the achievements of test flights made in Belgium under the direction of Major J. Smeysters, Commandant of Military Aviation with a D. H. 9 machine fitted with a 230 h. p. Siddeley "Puma" engine supplied by ADC. Two specific tests are detailed: - The first test on August 2nd, 1924, where Lieutenant Fabry piloted the aircraft with Corporal Pilot Rey de Blieck as passenger. It took off at 7:35 AM and landed at 6 PM without landing during flight. - The second test on August 29th, 1924, which lasted for an impressive duration of flight without landing:12 hours and 3 minutes. Both tests aimed to evaluate fuel consumption rates; results showed that for No. 1 Flight petrol was consumed at a rate of330 litres over8 hours and25 minutes while No. 2 Flight used up472 litres across12 hours and3 minutes. At the bottom of the flyer is information about Aircraft Disposal Company Ltd. , located at Regent House, 89 Kingsway, London, W. C. 2. , indicating their business address for potential inquiries or sales related to their successful Puma engine or other aviation-related services they offered during that time period in post-WWI Britain when many military aircraft were being disposed of or repurposed for civilian use following the end-of-war demobilization efforts.
