Asbjornsen's most famous collaborative work, "Fairy Tales from Northern Europe," was published between 1845 and 1848, in collaboration with Jørgen Moe. This collection of 38 tales, which included both Norwegian and Danish folktales, was a groundbreaking achievement in the field of folklore studies and remains a beloved classic in Norwegian literature. Asbjornsen's commitment to preserving Norway's folktales extended beyond his writing. He also worked tirelessly to promote the study of folklore and natural history, founding the Norwegian Folk Museum in 1825 and serving as its first director.
