Accomodation Antonia Cunard Dining Liners Oceanic Postcards Steamer Liner

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this postcard image of the RMS Antonia's third class public rooms, showcasing the social hall, dining room, and bathroom. Built by John Brown & Company in Scotland for the renowned Cunard Line in 1914, the RMS Antonia was a magnificent ocean liner weighing in at an impressive 15,000 tonnes. The social hall, depicted in this postcard, was a hub of activity for third-class passengers. Here, they could gather for social events, games, and entertainment, creating a sense of community during their transatlantic voyage. The room's high ceilings and large windows allowed for ample natural light, making it an inviting and spacious area. Adjacent to the social hall, the dining room provided nourishment and sustenance for passengers. The long, communal tables allowed for a convivial atmosphere, where passengers could share stories and make new acquaintances. The menu offered a variety of dishes, ensuring that all passengers were well-fed during their journey. Lastly, the bathroom, or washroom, as it was often referred to, provided a much-needed respite from the bustling public areas. With its porcelain sinks, mirrors, and running water, it offered a touch of luxury and comfort in the third-class accommodations. The RMS Antonia, with its elegant design and thoughtful amenities, represented the best of ocean travel during the early 20th century. This postcard offers a glimpse into the past, allowing us to imagine the experiences of those who sailed on this historic vessel.
