This evocative photograph captures a historic moment in international naval relations, as US Sailors from the 2nd Division of the Atlantic Fleet mingle with their Swedish counterparts during a visit to Stockholm harbor in the first week of June 1911. The US battleships USS Louisiana (BB-19), Kansas (BB-21), and New Hampshire (BB-25) of the Connecticut class are anchored in the harbor, with the third of that class or the flagship USS South Carolina likely taken the photograph. This image offers a unique glimpse into the past, showcasing the spirit of cooperation and diplomacy between two powerful naval forces during a time of peace. The photograph is a testament to the enduring bond between the United States and Sweden, as well as the shared history and traditions of their respective navies.
