This photograph showcases the Convair B-58A-10-CF Hustler, specifically serial number 59-2437 (MSN 40), on display at Kelly Air Force Base around the turn of the millennium. The Convair B-58 Hustler is a supersonic bomber that was designed and manufactured by the Convair Division of General Dynamics in the late 1950s. With its distinctive delta wing configuration and sleek design, the Hustler was the first supersonic bomber to enter operational service with the United States Air Force. The B-58A-10-CF variant, of which 111 were built, was a two-seat, long-range, high-altitude strategic bomber capable of reaching speeds of over Mach 2. The aircraft's advanced design included a variable inlet system, which allowed the engine to operate efficiently at both supersonic and subsonic speeds. The Hustler was also equipped with a unique ejection seat system that could eject the crew at supersonic speeds. 59-2437, which can be seen in this photograph, was one of the last surviving examples of the Convair B-58 Hustler fleet. It was retired from service in 1970 and later preserved for display at Kelly Air Force Base. The Hustler's impressive design and groundbreaking technology continue to captivate aviation enthusiasts and historians alike, making this photograph a valuable addition to any collection of military aviation history.
