The Bristol Type 171, 4-seat helicopter powered by an Alvis Leonides engine was the first

The Bristol Type 171, 4-seat helicopter powered by an Alvis Leonides engine was the first helicopter produced by Raoul Hafner and the helicopter division of the Bristol Helicopter Company; the original Mk.1 version making a first flight on 27 July 1947.
It was the first British built helicopter to receive a Certificate of Airworthiness. When production ended in 1959 some 180 had been built for both civil and military operation.
