Models demonstrate the ease of lowering a soft top roof at the 1966 London Motor Show 18th October 1966.
The soft top is in fact a Ford Cortina Mk2, and not a Consul as described.
The soft top conversion was carried out by an engineering company in Kent called Crayford
The stand number was 173, Crayfords first appearance at the London Motor show in 1966
The two models are:
1. Sally Stokes in the check outfit (London model and long-term girlfriend of Jim Clark)
2. Anita Taylor (popular British motor racing driver of the 60 s)

EDITORS COMMENTS
Captured in this vintage print is a remarkable moment from the 1966 London Motor Show, where two stunning models effortlessly demonstrate the smooth operation of lowering a soft top roof. The convertible on display, though initially described as a Consul, is actually an impressive Ford Cortina Mk2 that underwent a skillful soft top conversion by Crayford, an esteemed engineering company based in Kent. This particular appearance at the motor show marked Crayford's debut and their stand number was 173. It was truly an exciting event for both car enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. The two captivating models featured in this image are Sally Stokes and Anita Taylor. Sally, known for her striking checkered outfit, was not only a popular London model but also had a special connection as she happened to be the long-term girlfriend of renowned racing driver Jim Clark. On the other hand, Anita Taylor herself was widely recognized as one of Britain's beloved female motor racing drivers during the vibrant era of the 60s. As we delve into this snapshot frozen in time, it becomes evident that it encapsulates not just automotive excellence but also showcases influential figures who left their mark on British motorsports history. This photograph serves as a nostalgic reminder of an iconic moment within our rich motoring heritage.
