In March 1974, The Evening Chronicle reported on one womans geodesic dome greenhouse.
Which raised the problem of why
anyone would want an ultra-modern greenhouse at the bottom of their garden. The answer is that Mrs Hall of Low Gate, near Hexham, had always wanted a greenhouse.
But her garden is on an exposed hillside and the standard type of greenhouse just couldnt stand the battering from the wind. However, her problem was solved when she saw an advert for the dome in a womans magazine.
Her husband was left with the

EDITORS COMMENTS
In March 1974, The Evening Chronicle featured a remarkable story of determination and innovation in the world of gardening. The captivating print captures Mrs Hall's geodesic dome greenhouse nestled at the bottom of her garden in Low Gate, near Hexham. Facing the challenge of an exposed hillside location, Mrs Hall longed for a greenhouse to nurture her green thumb. However, traditional structures proved futile against the relentless battering winds that frequented her garden. It was then that fate intervened when she stumbled upon an advertisement for a dome-shaped greenhouse in a women's magazine. With hope rekindled, Mrs Hall embarked on this unconventional path to fulfill her dream. Her husband took on the arduous task of assembling dozens of triangular glass panels that formed the unique structure. Piece by piece, he meticulously constructed their very own ultra-modern sanctuary amidst nature's elements. This photograph is not just a testament to one woman's unwavering passion for gardening but also showcases human ingenuity and adaptability. In an era defined by technological advancements and architectural marvels, it serves as a reminder that even humble gardens can embrace modernity without compromising functionality or aesthetics. Decades later, this image continues to inspire both seasoned gardeners and aspiring horticulturists alike. It stands as proof that with determination and resourcefulness, we can overcome any obstacle standing between us and our dreams.
