Allan Watkins, was one of Glamorgans greatest cricketers. He played in 15 Test matches and twice accomplished the " double" of 1, 000 runs and 100 wickets in a season. *ALLAN Watkins was the first Glamorgan cricketer to score a Test hundred for England and the first to appear in an Ashes Test. An energetic all-rounder, Watkins, who has died aged 89, enjoyed a remarkable cricket career recording 15 Test caps and 407 county appearances during which he scored 17, 419 runs, took 774 wickets and 390 catches. The Usk-born player appeared in the final Test of the 1948 Ashes series which will be remembered for being Don Bradmans final Test appearance for Australia following a string of outstanding performances in Championship cricket.
