time devoted to players putting their own points of view".
The players are also upset because Hagan refuses to let them wear track-suit bottoms, or use the type of boots they like to play in. Howe said the players move was not the result of a sudden impulse. " Things have been getting steadily worse as the season has gone on"

Ten West Bromwich Albion Players Demand Transfer - Clash with Manager Jimmy Hagan Revealed
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this print from December 10th, 1963, tensions within the West Bromwich Albion football team are laid bare. Ten first-team players, including skipper and England international full-back Don Howe, have taken a bold stand against their manager, Jimmy Hagan. The players claim that they cannot find common ground with Hagan and have requested transfers as a result. The discontent stems from what the players perceive as outdated training methods and an excessive emphasis on discipline rather than fostering individual intelligence. They feel stifled by unnecessary dictation and yearn for more opportunities to express their own perspectives. Furthermore, the players express frustration over Hagan's refusal to allow them to wear track-suit bottoms or use preferred boots during matches. This rebellion did not occur on a whim; instead, it represents a culmination of mounting dissatisfaction throughout the season. The photograph captures these ten determined individuals at their training ground - united in their quest for change. As this remarkable image transports us back in time, we witness firsthand the clash between tradition and progress within one of England's renowned football clubs. This historic moment serves as a reminder that even in sports where teamwork prevails, individual voices must be heard and respected for harmony to prevail on the field.
