For centuries the city Horn blower has been performing the ceremony, which dates back to 886. When he is ill his deputy fills his position. There is no deputy now, and 12 years old Muriel Blackburn daughter of Mr. Harold Blackburn the city Horn blower will take the position. Many men are unable to blow the horn at all, but Muriel can coax a blast of 12 seconds. 25th March 1940
