Hold the front page... ! With deadline approaching budding newshounds at Meltham County

Hold the front page...! With deadline approaching budding newshounds at Meltham County Primary School are hoping to create a paper with a difference. Class 5 wrote to Stop Press asking if the Examiner uses recycled paper at all. Having been shown round the Examiners Aspley works and seeing recycled paper being used, they asked for a Junior Journalist entry form ? on recycled paper of course. Press Centre manager Alan Shore presented the children with their special recycled paper to make their own mini Examiner grid. The Meltham entry promises to be a special one with the theme of the environment. The ortersave also been looking at the Examiner and will be writing a feature on how the paper has changed over the years. Stepping back in time... pupils at Meltham County Primary School review copies of the Examiner from 1974 (from left) Gary Woodward, Sarah Crowther, Adam Taylor and Sally Jones. 28th September 1990

EDITORS COMMENTS
Hold the front page. . . ! Meltham County Primary School's budding newshounds are on a mission to create a paper with a difference. Class 5, eager to promote environmental awareness, reached out to Stop Press inquiring about the use of recycled paper at Huddersfield Examiner. Their curiosity led them on an eye-opening tour of the Examiner's Aspley works, where they witnessed recycled paper in action. Inspired by their visit, the students requested a Junior Journalist entry form - printed on none other than recycled paper. Press Centre manager Alan Shore graciously presented the children with their very own special batch of recycled paper, allowing them to craft their own mini Examiner grid. With an environmental theme in mind, Meltham's entry promises to be truly exceptional. In addition to this exciting project, pupils at Meltham County Primary School took a step back in time as they delved into copies of the Examiner from 1974. Gary Woodward, Sarah Crowther, Adam Taylor and Sally Jones were captivated by how much the newspaper has evolved over the years. This print captures both past and present aspirations for journalism at Meltham County Primary School – an inspiring journey towards creating meaningful change through reporting.
