EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print from 1989, we see a wonderful display of community spirit and generosity. The Travellers Rest pub in Denby Dale hosted a series of events including two race nights, a Halloween party, and even presented a school cheque to Nortonthorpe Hall School in Scissett. The efforts of the fundraisers Mr Gerald Moffatt and Mr David Holmes were truly commendable. On the memorable day of November 8th, 1989, Landlord Mr John Steers proudly visited Nortonthorpe Hall School to present the cheque to head teacher Mrs Anne Mallinson. It was an exciting moment for everyone involved as they witnessed firsthand the impact their hard work had on the education and well-being of these children. The photograph captures this special occasion perfectly with teacher Miss Moira Beaumont standing alongside her class. The joyous expressions on their faces reflect not only their gratitude but also the sense of unity that comes from supporting one another within a close-knit community like Huddersfield. This image serves as a reminder that fundraising endeavors can make a significant difference in providing resources and opportunities for our future generations. It showcases how small acts of kindness can create lasting memories and contribute positively to society's development. As we look back at this snapshot from all our yesterdays, it inspires us to continue fostering such charitable initiatives within our own communities today.
