Twiggy - a six-months-old green and grey leaf bird from Siam was facing a sad maimed future. His tiny top beak, 3/4 in long, had been knocked off by a boisterous macaw in the aviary at Guernsey Zoo. But now everything has changed. Twiggy now has a new lease of life, thanks to the skill and patience of a local dental surgeon, who fitted him with a lovely new beak, made of tough plastic material. He is now tucking into his food again. And singing happily.
