Elaine Paige, the 26 years old actress has been chosen to play the title role in Evita, the musical based on the life of Eve Peron, she had her first day in front of cameras.
The new show is due to open at the Prince Edward Theatre in June, with Joss Ackland playing the role of General Peron.
Evita is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Per, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Per. The story follows Evitas early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death.
