At the age of 70, Billy had an illustrious career playing for Celtic with 33 appearances, Clyde with 137 appearances, and Queens Park with 12 appearances. However, behind his remarkable achievements lies a heartbreaking reality. Billy McPhail was unfortunately suffering from the effects of dementia at this stage of his life. Dementia encompasses various brain diseases that gradually diminish one's ability to think and remember over time. Despite his struggles with mental health, Billy's passion for football remained unwavering throughout his life. Tragically, as time went on, Billy's condition continued to deteriorate until he eventually passed away in Glasgow on the 4th of April 2003. His legacy as a talented athlete will forever be remembered by fans and fellow players alike.
