The Beatles filming their video for the song "Strawberry Fields Forever"
The Beatles filming their video for the song " Strawberry Fields Forever" at Knole Park in Sevenoaks, Kent, on Monday 30th January 1967.
Paul McCartney is pictured in this frame, playing the piano.
The films were both produced by Tony Bramwell and directed by Swedish director Peter Goldmann, on the 30th and 31st January, and also on 7th February.
Work had just begun on the album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, but there was a feeling that the group needed new music released as soon as possible, their first new music since August 1966 Revolver album.
" Strawberry Fields Forever" was released on the 13th February 1967 as a double A-side single with " Penny Lane". The song was written by John Lennon but credited to the Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership. Lennon wrote the song in Almeria, Spain, where he was filming a role in the anti-war comedy How I Won the War. He drew inspiration from his childhood memories of playing in the garden of Strawberry Field, a Salvation Army childrens home near to where he grew up in Liverpool. The double A-side peaked at number 2 on the Record Retailer chart, behind Engelbert Humperdincks " Release Me", thereby breaking the bands four-year run of chart-topping singles in the UK.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a pivotal moment in music history as The Beatles film their iconic video for the song "Strawberry Fields Forever". Taken on January 30th, 1967 at Knole Park in Sevenoaks, Kent, this frame showcases the legendary Paul McCartney skillfully playing the piano. The filming of this video was overseen by producer Tony Bramwell and directed by Swedish filmmaker Peter Goldmann over three days: January 30th, January 31st, and February 7th. At that time, The Beatles had just embarked on their groundbreaking album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band but felt an urgency to release new music promptly after their last album Revolver in August 1966. "Strawberry Fields Forever" written by John Lennon but credited to the Lennon-McCartney partnership, was released as a double A-side single with "Penny Lane" on February 13th, 1967. Lennon drew inspiration from his childhood memories of playing in Strawberry Field near his upbringing in Liverpool while filming How I Won the War in Almeria, Spain. Although it reached number two on the Record Retailer chart behind Engelbert Humperdinck's "Release Me" breaking The Beatles' four-year streak of chart-topping singles in the UK, this timeless song has become an enduring symbol of their musical genius. This incredible photograph transports us back to that historic day when The Beatles brought their creative vision to life amidst picturesque surroundings. Preserved through Memory Lane Prints and captured by Sevenoaks Chronicle on January 30th, 1967; it serves as a testament to both their artistic brilliance and everlasting impact on popular culture.
