The Police were a British rock band formed in London in 1977. The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Emerging in the British new wave scene, they played a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. Aswell as five hit albums, including Outlandos d Amour and Reggatta de Blanc, they enjoyed global hit singles such as Roxanne, Message In A Bottle and Every Breath You Take. Band members were Stewart Copeland on drums, Sting (real name Gordon Sumner on lead vocals, bass, and the main songwriter) and Andy Summers on guitar. Henry Padovani was also their guitarist from January to August 1977, but left the band before they became famous.

This print takes us back to January 1982, when the iconic British rock band, The Police, were on tour in America. In the image, Sting (real name Gordon Sumner), the lead vocalist and bassist of the band, is captured engrossed in reading The New York Times Newspaper. The Police gained immense popularity during the late 1970s and early 1980s with their unique blend of rock infused with punk, reggae, and jazz influences. With five hit albums under their belt including "Outlandos d'Amour" and "Reggatta de Blanc" they produced global chart-topping singles like "Roxanne" "Message In A Bottle" and "Every Breath You Take". Stewart Copeland showcased his drumming prowess while Andy Summers mesmerized audiences with his guitar skills. Henry Padovani was also part of the band as a guitarist from January to August 1977 before departing just before their rise to fame. After The Police disbanded, Sting embarked on a successful solo career. In 1987, he released a hit single titled "An Englishman in New York".
