Heinkel 59 seaplane bearing red crosses shot down by Pilot Officer J
Heinkel 59 seaplane bearing red crosses shot down by Pilot Officer J. Allan of 54 Squadron over the Eastern Channel and alleged to have been used for mine - laying. It is seen here beached at Deal where it had been towed by a Navy vessel.
The Heinkel He 59 was a twin-engined German biplane designed in 1930, resulting from a requirement for a torpedo bomber and reconnaissance aircraft able to operate on wheeled landing gear or twin-floats.
