Avenue of the Baobabs, Madagascar
Avenue of the Baobabs. Woman walking through the Avenue of the Baobabs, Madagascar. The Avenue, or Alley, of the Baobabs is a prominent group of baobab (Adansonia grandidieri) trees lining the dirt road between Morondava and Belon i Tsiribihina in the Menabe region of western Madagascar. Along the Avenue are some 25 trees around 30 meters in height that are endemic to Madagascar. Originally a huge forest, only this small number remains owing to deforestation as agricultural land encroaches
