Camptosaurus foot
Camptosaurus foot. Fossilised foot bones of a Camptosaurus. This plant eating dinosaur lived in the late Jurassic period, about 156-145 million years ago. It measured 5-7 metres long and weighed roughly 1000 kilograms. The feet had four toes (fourth toe hidden from view in image) and it is thought that Camptosaurs could walk on either two or four legs. This fossil was photographed at Phil Fraley Productions, USA, where in 2007, it is being rebuilt from a 2-D display into a 3-D exhibit to be shown at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, USA

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the fossilized foot bones of a Camptosaurus, a plant-eating dinosaur that roamed the Earth during the late Jurassic period. Dating back approximately 156-145 million years ago, this incredible creature measured an impressive 5-7 meters in length and weighed around 1000 kilograms. The photograph reveals its four-toed feet, with the fourth toe hidden from view. Camptosaurs were known for their ability to walk on either two or four legs, making them versatile and adaptable beings of their time. This particular fossil was captured at Phil Fraley Productions in the United States, where it underwent an extraordinary transformation from a two-dimensional display into a three-dimensional exhibit. Soon to be showcased at the renowned Carnegie Museum of Natural History in the USA, this reconstructed Camptosaurus will undoubtedly captivate visitors with its anatomical intricacies. As we gaze upon this relic from North America's prehistoric past, we are reminded of our planet's rich history and marvel at the wonders paleontology has unveiled. The image not only highlights scientific curiosity but also serves as a testament to ongoing research and exploration within palaeobiology. It is through such discoveries that we gain valuable insights into ancient ecosystems and better understand these magnificent creatures that once roamed our world millions of years ago.
