Corythosaurus dinosaur (Corythosaurus casuarius), computer artwork. This dinosaur lived in the Upper Cretaceous period, about 80 million years ago. It belongs to the Hadrosaurus (duck-billed dinosaur) family and was a herbivore. Corythosaurus had a large flattened bony crest on top of its head. EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the remarkable Corythosaurus dinosaur, a majestic creature that roamed the Earth approximately 80 million years ago during the Upper Cretaceous period. Belonging to the Hadrosaurus family, also known as duck-billed dinosaurs, this herbivore possessed a distinctive feature - a large flattened bony crest adorning its head. Intriguingly, this crest served more than just an aesthetic purpose. The nasal passages extended into it, leading scientists to believe that it played a crucial role in amplifying sounds produced by this magnificent beast. Imagine the resonating calls echoing through prehistoric landscapes! Measuring around 10 meters in length and weighing up to an astonishing 4 tonnes, Corythosaurus was truly awe-inspiring. This computer artwork beautifully captures its essence with intricate details of its beak-like mouth and reptilian features. As we gaze upon this image, we are transported back in time to an era when these incredible creatures dominated our planet's fauna. Although long extinct now, their existence continues to fascinate us and provide valuable insights into our biological past. This stunning illustration is not only a testament to scientific exploration but also serves as a reminder of nature's diversity throughout history. Let us marvel at the wonders of paleontology and appreciate the beauty found within our planet's rich tapestry of life.
