Ladys slipper orchid
Ladys slipper orchid (Family Orchidaceae), historical artwork. Slipper orchids have unusually shaped flowers that force insects to follow a specific path as they collect nectar from the flower. This route results in the insect pushing against the flowers reproductive organs and thus collecting or transferring pollen. Published in Gems of Nature and Art by R. Fawcett, in London, circa 1880
