Namib sand-diving lizard
Namib sand-diving lizard (Meroles anchietae). Formerly known as Aporosaura anchietae, this desert lizard is found in the Namib Desert of Namibia and Angola. It is named for its habit of burrowing beneath the sand, emerging to hunt for insects. It copes with hot sands by raising opposed feet to minimise contact. Photographed in Namibia
