Soyuz TMA-11 mission launch. Soyuz TMA-11 rocket lifting off from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, on 10th October 2007 at 13:22 GMT. On board were Peggy Whitson (USA), Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (Malaysia) and Yuri Malenchenko (Russia). Whitson was the first female ISS commander, while Shukor was the first Malaysian to go into space and the first Muslim to enter space during the holy month of Ramadan. The TMA-11 mission was part of Expedition 16, the 16th expedition to the ISS (International Space Station)
