Waste incineration plant
Waste incineration plant. Domestic and industrial waste is burnt in furnaces inside this building, reducing the waste to ashes and combustion gases, which are purified. The energy from the incineration is used to generate electricity. Incineration of waste reduces the need to use fossil fuels to produce energy, and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill sites. This is the waste incineration plant operated by Roteb at Mshaven, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. It was constructed between 1993 and 1994, to a metallic design by the Dutch architect Maarten Struijs
