Taken in 1950, during his teenage years in Russia, this image gives us a glimpse into the early life of a remarkable individual. Born in Klushino and raised near Gzhatsk, Gagarin's journey began when he moved to Saratov on the Volga River to pursue his studies at the polytechnic. It was here that he discovered his passion for flying and embarked on military flight training in Orenburg after completing his technical education. In 1960, Gagarin's exceptional skills led him to be selected for the Soviet space program. On April 12th, 1961, history was made when Yuri Gagarin orbited Earth aboard the Vostok 1 spacecraft.
