Jupiters Galilean moons

This montage shows the best views of Jupiters four large and diverse Galilean satellites as seen by the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) on the New Horizons spacecraft during its flyby of Jupiter in late February 2007. The four moons are, from left to right: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. The images have been scaled to represent true relative sizes of the four moons and are arranged in their order from Jupiter.
Io, 2, 260 miles in diameter, is notable for its active volcanism, which New Horizons has studied extensively. Europa, 1, 938 miles in diameter, has a smooth, icy surface that likely conceals an ocean of liquid water. Ganymede, 3, 268 miles in diameter, has a dirty ice surface cut by fractures and peppered by impact craters. Callisto, 2, 995 miles in diameter, has a heavily cratered surface

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the stunning beauty and diversity of Jupiter's Galilean moons. The montage, captured by the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) aboard the New Horizons spacecraft during its flyby of Jupiter in February 2007, presents a true representation of the relative sizes of these four celestial bodies. From left to right, we are introduced to Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Each moon possesses its own unique characteristics that make them fascinating subjects for scientific study. Io stands out with its active volcanism, which has been extensively observed by New Horizons. Europa's smooth icy surface hints at the possibility of an ocean hidden beneath it - a tantalizing prospect for potential extraterrestrial life. Ganymede displays a dirty ice surface marked by fractures and impact craters. Lastly, Callisto boasts a heavily cratered terrain that speaks to its ancient history within our solar system. The black background accentuates these lunar wonders against their monochromatic surroundings while emphasizing their intricate details and textures. This horizontal composition allows us to appreciate their scale and provides valuable measurements for further analysis. As we gaze upon this mesmerizing image print from Stocktrek Images, we are reminded of humanity's insatiable curiosity about our universe and our relentless pursuit to unravel its mysteries beyond commercial interests.
