The Royal Visit to Kenya Their Royal Highnesses Princess Elizabeth and the Duke
The Royal Visit to Kenya
Their Royal Highnesses Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh will shortly leave Britain for their Royal tour of Kenya, Ceylon, Australia and New Zealand. During their visit to Kenya they will be staying at the Royal Lodge on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the Colonys wedding gift to the Royal Couple. Not far away is the Outspan Hotel at Nyeri where many visitors to the country frequently stay in hope of seeing big game in its natural surroundings. The hotel has an annexe overlooking a watering hole where often wild game may be seen on a moonlit night. This picture shows the Outspan Hotels annexe known locally by the name of " Treetop Hotel". It is possible that their Royal Highnesses may find time to spend an evening there in the course of their sojourn at the Royal Lodge, twenty miles away.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history - the Royal Visit to Kenya by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. In 1952, as part of their extensive tour, the royal couple embarked on a journey that would take them through Kenya, Ceylon, Australia, and New Zealand. The image showcases the Outspan Hotel's annexe known as "Treetop Hotel" located near Nyeri. The Outspan Hotel was a popular destination for visitors hoping to catch glimpses of wildlife in its natural habitat. Its annexe overlooked a watering hole where wild game often gathered under the moonlit sky. It is believed that Princess Elizabeth and the Duke may have planned an evening at this unique location during their stay at the Royal Lodge on Mount Kenya's slopes. The Royal Lodge itself held great significance as it was gifted to the newlyweds by the colony.
