Sonnenspektrum in Berlin

A German revue. Scene from Sonnenspektrum (The Solar Spectrum) based on the work of Frank Wedekind, which ran at the Kurfurstendamm Playhouse, Berlin in 1928. The Sphere magazine states, "The white bowler and ultra-Oxford bags are in the best Continental comedian tradition; while the athletic prowess of the company is in keeping with the mania for sport that has spread through the country like an epidemic." Mrs Giles Borrett, first female BBC radio announcer

Mrs Giles Borrett (her stage name as an actress was Sheila Stewart), first female BBC radio announcer. She had a three-month trial, and received good notices, but her contract was terminated, probably because of prejudice against a female voice on the radio, and the fact that she was a married woman. Date: 1933
