Scarlet Ibis Collection

The Scarlet Ibis is a species of wading bird found in tropical and subtropical regions of South America, and is the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago, where it is known as the "Pride of Trinidad", bright red plumage, long legs, and a long neck. Its diet consists mainly of small fish, crustaceans, insects, frogs, lizards and worms. It nests in colonies near water sources such as swamps or mangroves. The birds are highly social and often form large flocks with other ibises or herons and are very vocal birds that communicate with each other through loud honks or whistles. The Scarlet Ibis plays an important role in its environment by helping to control insect populations which can be harmful to crops and livestock. This species is currently classified as Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature due to its large range and population size; however it faces threats from habitat destruction due to human activities such as deforestation and pollution.
