Grey Partridge Collection

Grey Partridge (Phasianidae) are a species of bird that is native to Europe and Asia, and are medium-sized birds, with a length of around 30 cm and a wingspan of up to 50 cm. Grey Partridges have greyish-brown feathers with white spots on the back, while their underside is mostly white. They feed mainly on seeds and insects, which they find in grassy areas such as meadows or fields. In the winter months, they migrate southwards in search for food. Grey Partridges form monogamous pairs during breeding season and lay up to 15 eggs at once in shallow ground nests. The chicks hatch after about three weeks and fledge after another two weeks or so, and are considered an important game bird species due to their tasty meat, but unfortunately their population has been declining due to habitat loss caused by human activities such as agriculture or urbanisation.
