Louses Collection

Lice are small, wingless insects that feed on the blood of humans and other animals, and are usually found in the hair and scalp, but can also be found on clothing, furniture, and bedding. Lice have three stages of life: egg (nit), nymph, and adult. The eggs hatch in about a week into nymphs which look like smaller adults. Nymphs mature into adults after several days and begin to reproduce immediately. Lice can spread from person to person through direct contact or by sharing items such as combs or hats. Treatment for lice infestations includes medicated shampoos or lotions that kill the lice as well as manual removal of the eggs with a fine-toothed comb. Prevention measures include avoiding close contact with people who have lice, not sharing personal items such as combs or hats, washing bedding regularly in hot water, vacuuming carpets frequently, and keeping long hair tied back away from others' heads.
