Gardneri Collection

Gardneri is a genus of cricetidae mammals, which are small rodents, and are native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, living in deserts and other arid habitats. They have a long, slender body with short legs and ears. Their fur is usually grayish-brown in color with white or yellowish underparts. They feed on seeds, fruits, insects, and other small animals and can active during the day and night but tend to be more active at night when temperatures are cooler. They live in burrows or nests made from grasses or cacti that they build themselves, and are live up to five years in captivity but their lifespan is much shorter in the wild due to predation by larger animals such as coyotes and bobcats.
