Lineata Collection

Lineata (Eupleridae) are a family of mammals found in Madagascar, and are small carnivores, about the size of a domestic cat, and have a long body with short legs. They have thick fur that is usually brown or black in color, and their faces are marked with white stripes or spots. Lineata feed on small animals such as insects, lizards, and frogs. They live in both dry forests and wet rainforests and can be found near rivers or swamps and can solitary animals but will occasionally form small groups when searching for food or shelter, and are active during the day but also hunt at night when they can use their excellent sense of smell to locate prey. Lineata play an important role in maintaining the balance of Madagascar's ecosystems by controlling populations of smaller animals like rodents and insects that could otherwise become pests if left unchecked.
