Agile Gibbon Collection

Agile Gibbons (Hylobatidae) are small, arboreal mammals found in tropical and subtropical forests in Southeast Asia, and are the fastest and most acrobatic of all primates, capable of leaping distances up to 15 meters from tree to tree. They have long arms that enable them to swing through the trees with ease and agility. Agile Gibbons have a black or dark brown fur coat with white markings on their face, chest, hands, feet and tail. They live in small family groups consisting of an adult pair and their offspring. Their diet consists mainly of fruit but they also eat leaves, flowers, insects and bird eggs. Agile Gibbons communicate using loud vocalizations which can be heard up to 1 km away. These animals play an important role in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems by dispersing seeds throughout the forest as they forage for food.
