GEOLOGY: K-T boundary site - The photo depicts the Sussex locality, north of Casper, Wyoming, USA.
The boundary layer is indicated by the line on the photograph. It separates the uppermost part of the Lance Formation (Cretaceous), from the Tullock Member of the Fort Union Formation (Tertiary). The hill at right is composed of the Lance Formation (Cretaceous); the upper part of the one at left is composed of Tertiary rocks. The K-T boundary is near the base of the hill at left.

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this photo print, nature reveals its ancient secrets at the K-T boundary site in Wyoming. With a bold line cutting through the frame, it marks the battleground where two geological eras clashed - Cretaceous versus Tertiary! Behold, as if frozen in time, we witness Mother Earth's fierce transformation. On the right stands a mighty hill composed of Lance Formation rocks from the Cretaceous period. Its rugged beauty tells tales of prehistoric creatures roaming freely. But wait! On the left looms another hill adorned with Tertiary rocks, showcasing our planet's evolution into a new era. These layers whisper stories of change and adaptation that shaped life as we know it today. As Francois Gohier captures this extraordinary moment, one cannot help but marvel at how science unravels mysteries buried deep within these rock formations. This photograph becomes an archaeological treasure trove for geologists and paleontologists alike. Join us on a journey back in time - where dinosaurs roamed and continents shifted! Let your imagination run wild as you explore this mesmerizing snapshot of Earth's history. It's like stepping into a blockbuster movie set or embarking on an exhilarating excavation adventure!
