The collection consists of artist-designed posters commissioned between 1926 and 1933 with the aim of promoting sales of Empire-grown and Empire-made goods throughout Great Britain, its Dominions, and Colonies. Over 200 posters were acquired by Manchester Art Gallery in the 1930s. "Cotton Dye Works" showcases an industrial scene that reflects the thriving trade within the British Empire during that time. The vibrant colors captured through lithography bring life to this image as it portrays workers engaged in dyeing cotton fabric.
