In ancient times, two mighty kings ruled over Israel - Saul and David. Between their reigns lies an era often overlooked in history books: the period known as 'The Judges' (approximately 972-932 BCE). During this tumultuous time, a series of charismatic leaders rose to power, each tasked with delivering God's people from oppression and chaos. These judges were not kings or monarchs but rather spiritual guides who led Israel back to their covenant relationship with Yahweh. They fought battles against foreign invaders, mediated disputes between warring factions, and even performed miracles in the name of the Lord. Despite these remarkable leaders, however, Israel continued to stray from God's ways. The people repeatedly turned away from Him, only to cry out for deliverance when faced with crisis or defeat. This cycle would continue until King David's reign marked a new era of unity under one ruler - but that's a story for another time..
