It occurred when a sizeable Austrian army under the Prince of Saxe-Coburg moved to attack a French army pushing into the Netherlands.The Austrian army were defeated by the French under General Jean-Baptiste Jourdan. The Battle lasted about 6 hours and ended Austrian control over the Netherlands
