EDITORS COMMENTS
In this enchanting photograph, we catch a glimpse of Prince George, later the 10th Duke of Kent and Strathearn, as a cherubic baby in the early 1900s. Born on 20 September 1902 at St James's Palace in London, Prince George was the third son and fifth child of King George V and Queen Mary. The image captures the young prince's innocent and playful expression as he sits on a plush chair, dressed in a white lace jumper and trousers, with a matching bow tie and shoes. His curly brown hair frames his round face, and his bright blue eyes gaze intently at the camera. The warm, golden light filtering through the room adds a soft, ethereal glow to the photograph, further emphasizing the tender and loving atmosphere. At the time of this photograph, Prince George was not yet a member of the royal household's inner circle, as his older brothers, Edward, Albert, and George, held the titles of Prince of Wales, Duke of York, and Duke of Clarence and Avondale, respectively. However, he would later make a significant impact on British history when he became the Duke of Kent in 1942. This portrait offers a rare glimpse into the early life of a future royal figure, showcasing the innocence and charm of a young prince who would grow up to make his mark on history.
