EDITORS COMMENTS
A captivating view of Rothesay, the largest town on the Isle of Bute in Scotland, looking westward from the quayside in the early 1900s. The serene waters of the Firth of Clyde reflect the picturesque scene, dotted with colorful houses and lush greenery. In the foreground, two paddlesteamers, symbols of the Caledonian Steam Packet Company, are anchored at the jetty, their tall smokestacks releasing plumes of steam into the sky. The elegant vessels, with their distinctive red funnels, were a common sight in the harbor, connecting Rothesay to the mainland and other islands with regular ferry services. The paddlesteamers added a touch of grandeur and excitement to the quaint town, attracting visitors from near and far. The scene exudes a sense of tranquility and nostalgia, transporting us back in time to a simpler era when life moved at a slower pace.
