EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the SEPECAT Jaguar GR.1 XZ358 (msn S.125) of the Royal Air Force's No.41 Squadron, stationed at RAF Coltishall during the late 1980s. The Jaguar, a joint venture between Breguet of France and Hawker Siddeley of the United Kingdom, is seen here with an unusual configuration – fitted with tandem beams on the inboard pylons. These beams were used to support the carriage of larger weapons, such as the 1000lb bombs visible in this image. The aircraft is also equipped with countermeasures pods, which helped protect it from enemy missiles and radar-guided weapons. The Jaguar GR.1 was a versatile and formidable multirole combat aircraft, capable of conducting ground-attack, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare missions. With its powerful Rolls-Royce Adour Mk 811 turbofan engines, the Jaguar could reach impressive speeds and altitudes, making it a valuable asset to the RAF's inventory. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the capabilities of this iconic aircraft during its operational service.
