The image, illustrated by Jean Gabriel Pretre and engraved by Tournier under the direction of Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin, offers a detailed and accurate representation of these animals. The White-tailed Gnu, also known as the Black Wildebeest, is a large antelope native to the African savannas.
