"A Thrilling Battle at the HRDC Jack Sears Trophy: Michael Whitaker and Ford Mustang Triumph at Silverstone Amidst the picturesque backdrop of Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire, England, the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) hosted the Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars. This forty-five minute race, filled with classic cars and iconic motor racing history, featured various classes: Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears. Michael Whitaker, a seasoned racing driver, took the wheel of the Ford Mustang, a powerful and iconic American muscle car, in the Pre-66 BMC A Series Touring Cars category. The race, which included an option for a second driver and a compulsory pit-stop, was divided into five classes, each representing cars that preceded the British Touring Car Championship events. As the rain began to pour down, the drivers and their vehicles were put to the test. The Pre-60 Touring Cars, Pre-66 Historic Jaguar Touring Cars, Pre-66 Over 2 Litre Touring Cars, and Pre-66 Under 2 Litre Touring Cars all battled it out on the wet and slippery track. Amidst the adverse weather conditions, Whitaker and his Ford Mustang stood out, demonstrating impressive speed and handling. The rain added an extra layer of excitement to the race, creating a nostalgic and entertaining atmosphere for the spectators. As the race came to a close, Michael Whitaker and his Ford Mustang crossed the finish line, securing their victory in the Pre-66 BMC A Series Touring Cars class. The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy event at Silverstone proved to be a thrilling display of classic motor racing, showcasing the very best of pre-60 and pre-66 touring cars."
