"A Blast from the Past: The HRDC Jack Sears Trophy at Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit, Towcester, Northamptonshire, October 2022 The roar of engines and the scent of fuel filled the crisp autumn air as the Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) staged the Jack Sears Trophy for 1958-1966 Touring Cars at the iconic Silverstone Grand Prix Motor Circuit in Towcester, Northamptonshire. This 45-minute race, held over the weekend of the Motor Racing Legends Silverstone GP on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2022, was a thrilling journey back in time. Among the grid of classic racing cars, the Morris Cooper S of Richard Colburn stood out. The Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears classes featured a diverse range of pre-60 touring cars, pre-66 BMC A Series touring cars, pre-66 historic Jaguar touring cars, pre-66 over 2 litre touring cars, and pre-66 under 2 litre touring cars. The option of a second driver and a compulsory pit-stop added an extra layer of excitement to the race. Richard Colburn's Morris Cooper S, with its distinctive red and white livery, was a sight to behold. The Coombs, Leston, Mann, Rhodes, and Sears classes paid homage to the iconic tin tops that preceded the British Touring Car Championship events. The cars, a mix of saloon and sports cars, showcased the nostalgia and entertainment value of historic motor racing. As the race began, the drivers put their foot down, pushing their classic cars to the limit. The sounds of the engines echoed around the circuit, transporting the crowd back to a bygone era.
