Blair won the gold medal in a new World Record, and it was the first of her three consecutive Olympic titles in the 500m. In all she won five Olympic speed skating gold medals.
Later that year Rothenburger won a silver medal in sprint cycling at the Seoul Olympics, becoming the first woman to win medals in both the Winter and Summer Olympics.
