865024 Charles William Siemens (1823-1883) by Sambourne, Edward Linley (1844-1910); (add.info.: Charles William Siemens (born Carl Wilhelm von Siemens - 1823-1883) German mechanical and electrical engineer born near Hanover. Brother of Werner von Siemens. He took British nationality in 1859. Invented the regenerative (open hearth) furnace which developed into the Siemens-Martin process for the production of large quantities of steel.
